Session #1 with Karime (TEFL and CIES engagement conclusion and review)

Topic/Skill: This was less of a tutoring session and more of a discussion between Karime and me about the environment in which she is most comfortable learning English. Additionally, we talked about ways we could make the Altamira-CIES program better and how I could improve abroad students' experience in the future.

Feedback Provided to the Tutee: Karime provided more feedback to me as I asked her questions regarding the above. Some of these questions were, "What were your preferences for setting, specific experience, length of experience, language mode (writing, reading, speaking, listening), and social dynamics after having experienced learning English at FSU?", "Could you describe the degree of comfort you felt learning the language at FSU and how that changed based on the environment you were in?", and "How did socialization play a role in your language learning at FSU?".

Lessons: Karime's responses to these questions will prove useful when I begin teaching English abroad. Additionally, I will use these answers and many like them in my Capstone project for my Global Scholars presentation on How comfortability in language acquisition settings influences the ability of individuals to learn and produce new languages.
