Brianna TS #9

Date/Time: Wednesday July 10th
Location: Bellamy 338
Topic/Skill: Speaking (Using Zoom, Pine Cones, Emotions)
Feedback provided to the tutee: Wei and I experimented with scheduling Zoom meetings and changing video background settings. We discussed new vocabulary words: blurred, blurry, and blur. We also discussed a strange pine cone Wei had noticed on her walk and brought with her, and a lot more new words: thorn, prickle, prick, tear, drop (of blood), sap, irritated, irritate, irate, spiteful, spite, fury, furry spectrum and range (of emotions). These conversations covered both meaning and pronunciation.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Looking up words in a dictionary is like diving in very deep water: you don’t realize how quickly you’re descending until you’ve ended up somewhere you shouldn’t be and can’t do anything about it. This is how we ended up covering such a diverse variety of words in a relatively short time. It's like we could have kept going forever, finding new words to search for in the definition of each successive word we looked up.
